President Graça confident Italy will organise a World Championship to remember

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 13, 2014 –
With the ‘100 days to go’ milestone for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World
Championship Italy 2014 due to pass on Sunday, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°
is confident that Italy has what it takes to
host a tournament to remember.

“We are pleased to have Italy host such an
important event. The country is known for its passion for volleyball and its
commitment to producing top notch action,” said Graça.

“As we head into the last 100 days of
preparation for this important event, Italy’s volleyball activities over the
past months has only shown the world that they are on track to produce an
unforgettable event. In March, the Italian Organising Committee hosted a
spectacular Drawing of Lots event, which brought together all that is good
about the country and the sport in an evening of high culture and entertainment.

“More recently we witnessed a one-of-a-kind World League match in Rome where Italian
fans cheered on their team to a win against Poland. With more than 10,000 fans
in attendance, the atmosphere was electric and has set the standard for what to
expect this September.”

In the lead up to the Championship,
which will take place from September 23 to October 12, fans in Italy have also
had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Women’s World
Championship trophy, a one-of-a-kind prize created especially for the event.

“I am very much looking forward to see what
the teams have on offer at the Women’s World Championship and hope that fans
will enjoy the 20 days of fierce volleyball action across the country as much
as I will.”
