The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 trophy on display

Poland, June 14, 2014 –The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014
trophy tour kicked off Thursday in Katowice.Katowice,
one of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 host cities,
was the first stop of the Trophy Tour, which presents the trophy of World’s
most prestigious volleyball competition to the public. Katowice
will also be the final destination of the trophy, as here, on the night of
September 21, it will go into the hands of the FIVB World Championship winners.
After
the Thursday’s presentation to the media, fans were able to see the trophy up
close Friday.Volleyball
fans flocked to the special, ball-shaped tent in front of the Spodek Hall,
where they could take pictures of themselves with the precious prize, as well
as take part in accompanying events and concerts.A
special press conference with representatives of Polish volleyball and the city
of Katowice followed at 6 p.m. in the trophy tent.“It’s
a perpetual trophy,” said Miroslaw Przedpelski, President of the Polish
Volleyball Federation. “You can only have it for four years, so it would be
good to have it here in Poland for at least that time. We’re all working hard
for this to happen and I hope that our wonderful fans will also help their
team. Knowing what a fantastic atmosphere they create inside the Spodek Hall,
I’m sure they will.”Grzegorz
Wagner, son of Poland’s 1974 golden team’s coach was also at the trophy tour.“I
remember that old trophy,” he said. “Fourty years make for a nice anniversary
and an opportunity to do it again. Some people compare Poland’s young head
coach Stephane Antiga to my father – the truth is, Stephane is probably a bit
older. However, their way is similar – from the court, straight to the coach’s
bench. I wish him success.” Krzysztof
Pieczynski, Katowice’s Strategic Events Bureau representative, discussed the World
Championship matches in Katowice, which will start September 1. “It
will be more than 20 days of volleyball,” he said. “Here the decisive matches
will be played and this trophy, which we are the first to present, will be
raised high by the best team. I hope that Marcin Mozdzonek will be one of those
to hold it.”However,
Marcin Mozdzonek, Poland’s National Team member, had a different outlook on the
trophy.“I
won’t touch this trophy right now, it’s supposed to be bad luck, but we will do
everything, so that any fan Polish can have a picture with the trophy for the
next four years,” he said.On
Saturday, the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 trophy will
be moved to the city of Wroclaw and presented to the public at the city square Sunday.
