The FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship Poland 2014 Trophy is in safe hands in Gdansk
Gdansk, Poland, July 4, 2014 - After three weeks of Trophy Tour, the main prize of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 reached the last host of this year’s tournament – the historical Hanseatic port city of Gdansk. This time the trophy’s tent and stage were set up next to the city’s beautiful Old Town.
Besides the usual entertainment programme, taking photos with the trophy and the World Championship mascots, fans had an opportunity to meet and talk to Poland’s world and Olympic champion of 1974 and 1976 – Ryszard Bosek, as well as TV Polsat’s star sports presenter Karolina Szostak.
“I had the pleasure of unveiling this trophy at its public presentation, so it’s not new to me. As far as its design goes, I think it’s consistent, attractive, but the really important thing is to have it held up high by our team after the Championship’s final game,” Szostak said.
She was seconded in her hopes by Ryszard Bosek who, just like his old teammates did many times during this Trophy Tour, expressed his wish to pass on the world champions’ title to a younger generation of Polish players. “It’s about time that the trophy and title returned to Poland,” he said.
The old champion said many good things about the Polish national team; however, when asked about this year’s favourites to the title, he did not hesitate to name the Russians, who will play their first round matches of Pool C in the city of Gdansk, from August 31 to September 7. “However, our team wasn’t going to the World Championship in Mexico to win the tournament. Nobody expected that – there were other great teams like Japan, Russia, Bulgaria, and yet, our perseverance and will to fight got us the gold,” continued Bosek.

also a great honour and pleasure to work at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World

worked with the European and world football championships, but it’s true that volleyball
is at a peak of popularity now. What we are going to see on August 30 will be
fantastic. Sixty two thousand voices singing the national anthem at Warsaw’s National
Stadium will be a unique moment in the sport’s history and should touch the
hearts of all who see the event,” – Szostak said, anticipating the World Championship’s
