Poland are not afraid of strong Brazil - Antiga

Katowice, Poland, September 20, 2014 – Poland’s coach Stephane Antiga said his players are not afraid of Brazil despite their quality and history as they showed in the previous round when handed the defending champions their only loss in the world championship.

Poland coach, Stephane Antiga: We are very happy. It wasn’t our best match. The key to today’s victory was patience. We were a favorite for the first time. We wait for the final with Brazil, they are strong but we are not afraid of them, we showed that we can win against them.

Poland captain Michał Winiarski: What can I say? We’re really happy. We worked really hard for it. We showed that we have character, the majority of the match we fought with ourselves, as we knew that the final was very close. What happened on the court today is not important. The most important is that we will play tomorrow in the final.

About his preparation for the tournament

I trained a lot for this championships, I think that this is the last championships for me. When I got injured and had pain in my back, I felt really bad when I thought it was over, but everybody in the team was with me, they supported me. I’m very happy to be in final.

Germany coach, Vital Heynen: I had to go five minutes to German television. It doesn’t happen often that they are interested in volleyball. We fought, we were several points behind but we were chasing the score. It was a very close game, details decided. Poland deserves to be in final.

Germany captain, Jochen Schöps: The first three sets were very close especially in the second set we were unlucky. In the fourth set Polish team served really well. Good luck tomorrow to Poland, we need to rest and prepare also for tomorrow.

About the results during the competition and the next match

I hope that in a week or two we will take confidence from what we have done in the tournament and during all summer.

It will be a very hard game. We will be motivated to play better than in the last match. I’m looking forward for that meeting. We still have a chance to win a medal.
