Bydgoszcz is a city with over 360 thousand inhabitants, the capital of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, a city with three state universities and sixteen other universities and colleges. From the times of receiving its civic rights from King Casmir the Great in 1346 the city has grown to the status of a thriving economic centre. The city is home to many international companies operating in the field of electro-technical industry, telecommunications and banking, among others, Alcatel - Lucent, Tyco Electronics, Atos Origin and JP Morgan Chase.

The Old Market, Mill Island, Marina, 18th c. granaries, Gothic St. Martin and Nicholas Cathedral, Opera Nova, the modern Sports Arena “Łuczniczka”, almost all the major sights and symbols of the city, are located on the river. Bydgoszcz is a perfect place to spend a weekend, whether travelling on your own, with family or with friends. The city on the Brda River boasts excellent accommodation facilities. Visitors have a choice of rooms in the interiors of both modern and historic buildings, three, four and five-star hotels located in the heart of the city. Bydgoszcz city centre is full of restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes.

In the past neglected Mill Island was not one of the places most visited by the local inhabitants. Due to its complex revitalization, however, it has become a landmark of the city. Numerous museums, the proximity of the opera and a variety of festivals and concerts held at the amphitheatre on the island made the place turn into the cultural centre of the city. It is worth mentioning that in the centre of Bydgoszcz there is a modern marina - "Przystań Bydgoszcz," which, due to its architectural beauty, wins hearts of the inhabitants and visitors. The proof of its visual uniqueness in Europe can be the fact that the structure- now a new city landmark - obtains numerous national and international awards and honours.

Bydgoszcz is also known as the capital of the Polish athletics and rowing. For fans from around the world, the city is an arena of basketball, volleyball and speedway championships. World Junior Championships in Athletics, World Cross Country Championships, Great Rowing Regatta for the Brda Cup, Polish Speedway Grand Prix, Women's European Volleyball Championships, EuroBasket - these are just some of the many sporting events held in the city on the Brda River.

Bydgoszcz is a city on water, with a rich tradition, open to the future. It is a city that loves sport and competition. The beauty of Bydgoszcz is not obvious and not limited by any specific époque. Its essence lies in a collage of styles, colourful facades of tenement houses, omnipresent river quietly whispering the remarkable history of the city.

The “Łuczniczka” Sports Arena is located the centre of Bydgoszcz.The name of the facility - "Łuczniczka” (The Archer Lady) refers to the symbol of the city which is a historic statue of a charming lady firing a bow. The sports hall offers services of a fitness club, bowling centre, disco and a restaurant that is famous for its delicious cuisine. The hall is surrounded by recreational facilities. Nearby there is a volleyball court, water ponds, a park and a river waterfront that attracts enthusiasts of outdoor activities, jogging, Nordic walking and cycling.

The “Łuczniczka” Sports Arena has hosted many international events in the past e.g.: Volleyball World League matches, matches of 2009 Women's European Volleyball Championship, FIBA EuroBasket 2009, European Women Basketball Championship 2011, Pedro's Cup International Athletics Meeting and many other events associated with culture and entertainment. On a daily basis “Łuczniczka” hall is a training facility for female volleyball players in Bydgoszcz. It is here that fans of volleyball gather every weekend to support the men’s volleyball team Delecta Bydgoszcz and the female volleyball team of KS Pałac Bydgoszcz.

How to get to Łuczniczka hall?

  1. Bus/coach – The simplest option is to head in the direction of the coach station as the distance which separates the station from the hall is app. 10 minutes by foot. From the coach station, head towards a footbridge over the river, go over the bridge, on the left we see a barge moored at the bank and behind it you can see the silhouette of the Łuczniczka Sports Arena.
  2. Train and tram – from the Central Railway Station, get on the tram number 5 and get off at the stop called Toruńska / Hala. The trip takes about 15 minutes (10 stops).
  3. To Bydgoszcz by car –national road No. 5 (Gdańsk – Poznań direction), national road No. 10 (Toruń – Piła direction) and national road No. 25 (Inowrocław – Koszalin direction).
