Łódź ready for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014

Łódź, Poland,
August 11, 2014 – Tickets for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship
Poland 2014, official t-shirts and volleyballs await those who take part in
games organised by the city of Łódź on its official Facebook profile
www.facebook.pl/lodzpl. The fun starts on Monday, August 18 and is a part of
the promotion of the upcoming championship.

"We invite all of Łódź’s citizens to take part in the
World Championship, also by participating in the games on our Facebook profile.
All you need to do is “like” our city. We also have a surprise for all those
who are going to buy (or have already bought) tickets for the matches in Łódź.
They will be able to use the city’s public transport free of charge and have
free access to the botanical garden, the zoo, the palm house, other cultural
institutions and Wodny Raj swimming pool
," said the city’s President Hanna Zdanowska this Monday, at a briefing, which took place at
Łódź’s high street – Piotrkowska. The President added that these are not all of
the attractions prepared for the fans of volleyball.

"Łódź proved
to be a lucky city for volleyball. Here Poland will play most of its matches of
the World Championship tournament. The players are well aware of the fans’
expectations. They train with additional motivation – they asked, for example,
to have their training weights increased by 10kg, just to be better prepared,"
said
the Polish Volleyball Federation President Mirosław
Przedpełski.

A special Fan Zone is being prepared to stand on Łódź’s Manufaktura
Square for the whole duration of the
FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014.

"The World Championship will take place in seven Polish
cities. Each of them has a perfect opportunity to show itself to the rest of
Poland and, thanks to the TV broadcast in almost 170 countries, to promote
itself internationally. Łódź, situated in the center of Poland will also be a
central point for our fans. Here the White-and-Reds will hopefully play most of
the tournament’s matches. This makes Łódź a key place of the championship
," PVF’s Vice-President Artur Popko explained.

The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 will start on
August 30 and end on September 21. Matches in Łódź will take place from
September 10 to 20.

After a meeting with media representatives at the city hall, the
organisers (PVF) met with all departments of the local administration and
central government-related services. Neither of the sides had any significant
issues regarding the organisation of the World Championship in Łódź. President Hanna
Zdanowska summed up the meeting by
saying: "Łódź is ready for the World
Championship."
