Farhad Ghaemi – Krakow loves volleyball!

Farhad Ghaemi is one of the top players on the Iranian side

Krakow, Poland, September 7, 2014 - In the penultimate game in
pool D, Iran won with Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-14). Nearly 9,000
spectators witnessed Puerto Rico’s elimination from the competition.

Iran won today’s game quite easily. Are you happy with your team’s
performance?

Ghaemi: - I’m
definitely happy with the results. We started the tournament very well and we
also wanted to finish the games in Krakow with a victory.

In the next phase you will play against  top four teams of Pool A. Do you consider some
of your future rivals more dangerous than the others?

- All four teams from Pool A
are very strong and demanding. We will need to play at our maximum.

Not many games in Pool D have finished after three sets, unlike in Pool
A. Do you feel physically prepared to continue playing at this level of
strength with the opponents that might be less tired?

- We prepared very hard for
this competition and we feel comfortable with our physical preparation. I don’t
believe that playing longer games in our pool can impact significantly our
performance in the next phase.

You’re moving now to Łódź and Bydgoszcz for the next games and
that’s the end of your stay in Kraków. Have you had some time to do a bit of
sightseeing?

- Actually, we did not have a
chance to see more of the city itself, just had a glance at the streets on our
way between the hotel and the gym. Kraków makes an impression of a beautiful
city but, more importantly, it seems to love volleyball. That’s why we think
three are some similarities between Iranian cities we play in and Kraków.
