Poland supporters were witnesses to their team ending Brazil's undefeated run
Lausanne, Switzerland, September 16, 2014 – France waited 48 years to get their revenge over Germany, while Poland defeated Brazil to win their third five-set match in the third round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
France completed a sweep of their neighbours Germany to show their force in Pool G, while Poland prevailed in the a nail-biting final set to end Brazil’s undefeated run in the tournament.
France rare finish in straight sets – France finished their match with Germany in straight sets, making this set special as they have their second straight-set win at the World Championship. In three of their four World Championship matches, they have now ended in straight sets. France won by a 3-0 scoreline, and Germany one.
Polish endurance outlast Brazilian consistency – Poland defeated Brazil 3-2 to end the latter’s team record of a 13-match winning streak at the World Championship. Poland have now won three-five-setters in a row for the second time since 1974. This is Brazil’s first defeat at the World Championship since a 3-0 against Bulgaria in 2010.
