Finland Coach Tuomas Sammelvuo celebrating the victory against Korea
Katowice, Poland, September 3, 2014-
Finland Coach, Tuomas Sammelvuo
Korea is a difficult team to play against; they play very well in defense. You have to be patient and stay focused and that they showed the first two sets. I’m happy for the team, as we were some points behind, but we managed to win the second set. After that, the 3rd set was easier.
Our service was the key to victory, in the first two sets we had some problems with our counterattack after defense, also some problems with blocking, but in the 3rd set we controlled the game. It was very important for our collective, as the match was finished by 3 players who didn't finish the match against Cuba; this was victory of the team. Fans - I have no words.
Finland Captain, Antti Siltala
I’m really pleased with the result. We were focused and played really well. Our serve was good and it helped us in blocking them, especially after the difficult 2nd set we were focused and we were difficult team to win with.
Korea Coach, Park Kiwon:
We worked hard while preparing to this match. There are some good and bad elements in our game. Generally it’s good, but I’m not pleased with the result.
Korea Captain Han Sun-Soo
We didn’t play very bad, I’d say that it was generally ok, we but had some difficulties with reception and we will have to work on that.
