Mateusz Mika: We play well in each element

Poland have three victories in as many outings at the 2014 world championship

Wroclaw, Poland, September 4, 2014 – As Poland won hands down over Venezuela, Poland’s wing receiver Mateusz Mika shared with his feelings about the victory.

That was not a tiring nor difficult match for you. What do you feel about this game?

We are happy about winning this game in straight sets. Polish team deserved those three points because we showed some good volleyball. We want to gain as many points as it is possible to have more freedom in the second round.

There was only one but important substitution in comparison to the previous games. Does the coach want Pawel Zagumny to rest before next matches?

I think it is the exact reason why Zagumny did not play.

Which elements are still missing in Polish team?

In my opinion we played well in each element. However, we are capable to do even better and we should work on our game constantly.

What can you say about your next opponent Cameroon?

I hope for the best thinking about Friday’s match. If we play like we did against Serbia, Australia or Venezuela, we will not have any trouble beating Cameroon. This is just sport. Anything can happen.

Facundo Conte rates you amongst the best teams of the World Championship and he is not alone with his opinion. Do you feel any pressure?

We are concentrated on each coming match and we try not to think globally. Of course, we want to go as far as we can. Each success demands taking steps to achieve it and we are taking those steps carefully.

This is your first World Championship. How are your feelings?
Really positive. It is great to be here. I hope my feelings would be also positive in the end.
