Pavlov: There are no easy opponents

Russian and Egyptian players commented on their match in Gdansk

Gdańsk, Poland, September 3, 2014. Russia defeated Egypt in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-15). The Egyptians created chances to gain important points, but were beaten by a better team.

"It’s a World Championship, so there are no easy opponents. Everyone wants to do their best," said Nikolay Pavlov, opposite spiker of the Russian team, who scored 11 points on the night.

Asked about Russia's chances of winning the gold medals, he added: "That was just a second game and it is hard to predict now the final result. Now we are focused on the next match and will try not to lose any sets."

Despite a second defeat, Egypt are not giving up and are determined to put in their best performances in the matches they play next. "We have to work on communication on the court and try to eliminate mistakes in our game," said Saleh Youssef.
