Vargas: Spectators were unbelievable

Gdańsk, Poland, September 5, 2014 - In spite of the surprise in the first set, Russia swept out Mexico 3:1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:14, 25:17). Players from America admired Polish fans for their incredible support.

Despite losing this match we are now extremely motivated for the next one. It is because of the audience which was incredible. We heard them shouting “Mexico, Mexico” and that was fantastic. There is a spirit in a team and I truly believe that we can manage with Canada – assured Pedro Rangel, Mexico’s setter.

Daniel Vargas, who scored 20 points for Mexico today, was also in a good mood after this clash.

"I am satisfied about our play, but there is always something to improve. In my opinion we need to work mainly on serve and block. Coming back to the game, it is good to recall that we were playing in front of one of the best teams in the world. We committed a lot of faults in the first set... However, spectators were unbelievable and it was really joyful to play for such a brilliant public,"he pointed out.
