Tom first started playing volleyball at Brisbane Grammar
School in 2005 in Queensland, Australia. He played in state and national
schools cup competitions and soon started competing for Queensland at various
events. In 2009 Tom accepted a scholarship at the Queensland Academy of Sport,
and this lead to his first Australian National Junior Team selection later that
year. His debut was playing in the Trans Tasman series against New Zealand in
2009, and in 2010 played in both the Asian Junior and in Asian Youth
Championships in Thailand and Iran, respectively. Since 2010, Tom has been on
scholarship playing for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen volleyball team in
Canada, completing a Bachelor of Arts at the same time. After the 2013-2014
season he was named an All-Star in his conference. He was first invited to
trial for the Volleyroos in 2013, and was selected to compete at the world FISU
Games in Russia.  After this, he was
selected to be a part of the Volleyroos and was part of the team that qualified
for the 2014 World Championships  and
compete at Asian Championships in Dubai. He is currently committed to one more
year of study and competition in Canada, and is hoping to be a part of the 2014
World League and World Championship campaigns with the Volleyroos.
