Reigning African champions Tunisia are taking part in their 10th FIVB World Championship, marking a continuous presence since 2002. Their best finish to date was 15th place in 2006.
Tunisia have competed six times in the Olympic Games, their best finish being ninth in Los Angeles 1984, when they scored their first and only Olympic win, 3-2 over Egypt. Their latest Olympic appearance was in London 2012, where they ranked joint 11th.
Their FIVB World Cup performances haven been consistent in recent outings, having finished 12th in 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2015.
At a continental level, Tunisia have won a medal at every African Championship they have attended, apart from in 2009 when they finished fifth. Most recently in 2017, the team claimed gold after beating Egypt 3-0, ending the Egyptians run of six straight championships.
