Brazil claims their second victory on their way to the next round
Katowice, Poland, September 3, 2014- The last game of day 5 in pool B ended with three sets Brazil’s victory (25-18, 25-10, 25-17). Canarinhos won their second game in the tournament, leaving Tunisia team with two losses.
Dominating in attack led by Lucarelli, Wallace and Lucas was one of key points pushing Brazil to winning the match. Fine blocks and making use of opponent’s errors helped them to stop Tunisia.

Tunisia performed a strong opening of the game going 4-0 ahead. Fine spike of Lucarelli let Brazilians scored the first point. Followed by three others points gained by him and effective block by Bruno and Eder, Brazil caught up at 6-6 and run ahead with 8-6 at the first technical timeout. Tunisia with Kaabi spiking hard and Moalla’s aggressive serve tried to stop running away Brazil, but the opponent’s leading increased to three points. Continuing their performance, Brazil led 16-11 at the second technical timeout. However, Tunisia did their best and Kaabi blocking Lucarelli put some hope on the Tunisia’s side of the court. Brazil prevented Tunisia team from changing the scores and finished the first set 25-18.
Staying focused Brazil managed to run into the second set with a comfortable 7 point of leading at the first technical timeout. After keeping good reception and fine Wallace’s performance on the right wing, Brazilians increased their leading to 12-3, putting a great pressure on Tunisia. Fethi Mkaouar’s players did all their best to regain focusing and answer with some huge spikes, but all their efforts were stopped by Brazil’s fine serves and well-prepared blocks. After the second technical time out, Marouen Garci spiked effectively from the right wing what was totally appreciated by the supporters gathered in Spodek sports hall, Katowice. The ending of the second set was the performance of Brazil’s power. 22-9 leading was the record advance in pool B so far.
Coming into the game Tunisia managed to refocus, so that the leading of Brazil didn’t increase to more than 3 points at the beginning of the third set. Thanks to Elyes Karamosli fine spike, Tunisia reduce Brazil’s leading to 2 points, but just after that Bernardo Rezende’s players, performing a block, run away 13-8 ahead. Trying to put some pressure on Brazilians, Tunisia presented aggressive service what forced Brazil’s coach to call the timeout at 13-11. The second part of the set number three was dominated again by Brazilians. They gained a comfortable 22-15 leading and came confidently to the end of the match, finishing the set 25-17.
