Very few errors by Poland in second win

Poland avenged the loss to Australia during the Olympic Games in London

Wroclaw, Poland, September 2, 2014 – Big serves and few mistakes were the keys for the second victory of hosts Poland in Pool A of the FIVB Men’s World Championship as they claimed a comfortable straight-set win over Australia.

Poland coach, Stephane Antigua: “I am very happy for this victory. It was not easy to play against such a strong team as Australia. Today we played smart, we had great serves but still we have to work to improve our blocks. However we did not make a lot of mistakes which is a good sign. Today we were as concentrated as we were in Warsaw. We are motivated to show the same volleyball in the coming matches."

Question about Mariusz Wlazly:
“I can assure that Mariusz is in a good shape and he has no physical problems at all.”

Poland captain, Michal Winiarski: “I am very happy that we managed to win in such a style. We showed that our game on National Stadium was not a coincidence. We are balanced, we have a great team spirit and we fight for every ball. I think that the three days of break between the matches helped us a lot because we could rest and had time for training. Today we were less stressed than before the match with Serbia and that is why we had such a good match. Now we are waiting for the next matches. We realise that the meeting with Venezuela for example can be more difficult than the ones with the stronger teams but we believe that we will win.”

Australia coach, Jon Uriarte: “This match showed there is a big difference between both teams. There were some really painful situations on the court for us. We thought that we are a good team but Poland taught us how to play volleyball. Of course it is a great experience for us and hopefully we will use it to win another matches. Now it is time to train and correct errors. Our problem is that most of our players gain the experience during such as big events like this one so they do not have a lot of opportunities to play with the best teams.”

Australia captain, Aidan Zingel: “Unfortunately tonight we did not perform. We did not bear the pressure. We were making mistakes in reception and serves. It was an impressive match for Poland and they are in a great form. We have to focus for the next matches so that not to lose another valuable points.”
