Rocky victory for Serbia over tough Cameroon

Cameroon presented tough resistance in the loss to Serbia

Wroclaw, Poland, September 7, 2014 – Cameroon continued to present strong resistance against more experienced opponents as Serbia had to dig deep in order to find the way to the victory in four sets.

Serbia head coach, Igor Kolakovic: “It was not an easy meeting because Cameroon is a difficult opponent. We made some serious mistakes. During the second set we lost concentration and some nerves occurred. The last set was the one that we should show every time. I am glad that my reserves had an opportunity to play and they showed themselves from a good side.”

Serbia captain, Dragan Stankovic: “I do not have much to say. We won today. The result was not the one that we expected but we have three points which give us a psychological comfort. Cameroon were in a good shape today and they did a great job.”

Cameroon head coach, Peter Nonnenbroich: “Our game looked similar like yesterday. The beginning was not easy for us. We played well in three sets but then we lost the rhythm. As I was saying before, we miss experience so that it is hard to play with such teams like Serbia. I am happy that we showed we can play volleyball.”

Cameroon captain, Jean Patrice Ndaki Mboulet: “Again, I would like to thank God that I could play on this championship. It was a really good match for me. We learned how to reduce our mistakes. We played with a really good opponent. We tried our best to stay close to Serbia. I would like to wish them good luck in the next round.”
