Middle blocker (205 cm, 90 kg) Maxwell (Max) Holt was born in 1987 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he also grew up. Max joined the National Team in 2009. His debut with the U.S. Men came when he played in the Pan American Cup. He started all four matches and 16 games for the U.S. and finished with 56 points on 41 kills, 10 blocks and five aces, helping the team to a gold medal.
Holt became a full-time starter for the U.S. Men in 2013 and was named Best Blocker at the FIVB Grand Champions Cup that year. He played the winter of 2013-14 in Moscow after spending two years in Italy.
Prior to his position on the U.S. team, he played at Penn State where he earned a place on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American team two years in a row and helped lead the team to the NCAA National Championship in 2009.
Holt was a member of the U.S. Junior Men’s National Team from 2005-2007. He played in the Four Nations Tournament in 2005, the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship in 2006, and the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championships where the team took seventh. He is single.
