This year Egypt will make its sixth straight appearance at the FIVB World Championship.
They finished the 2014 FIVB World Championship in Poland in 21st, but just four years earlier managed their highest competition finish of seventh.
Egypt qualified for its fifth Olympic Games at Rio 2016, ranking ninth which is their best finish in the history of the competition.
A run of six straight African Championship gold medals which began in 2005 was interrupted in 2017 when Egypt lost to Tunisia in straight sets in the final in Cairo. They have eight titles overall in the continental competition, in addition to five gold medals at the All-Africa Games. Last time around at the All-Africa Games, Egypt beat Rwanda 3-2 in the third-place playoff to claim bronze in Brazzaville 2015.
At number 13 in the FIVB World Ranking, Egypt are the highest-placed African country heading into the 2018 World Championship and will look to make their mark in Turin.
